Microwave Testing

Microwaves are a common appliance used in every household and even in office, restaurants and cafes.

Microwaves that are unstable or old can leak harmful radiation. Door seals that are damaged or worn out are a common source of leakage.

How are Microwaves are tested?

A digital microwave leakage tester will be used by Test and Tag technician to monitor radiation and leakage levels, as well as power output quality. The microwave must have a maximum power density of 5mW/cm2. The microwave is checked, labelled, and added to the report until this procedure is complete and compliant.

What causes microwave radiation?
A seal around the perimeter of the microwave oven door wears out over time, gets clogged with food particles, or wears out due to inadequate maintenance of the device. These seals will leak radiation if they crack or lose their ability to seal. If there is some leakage above the appropriate level, routine inspection and microwave testing will show it.

What if my microwave’s radiation cap is exceeded?
If the seals are found to be defective after checking the microwave and unnecessary radiation is leaking, the consumer will be informed and a faulty sticker will be added. The client may choose to get a new microwave seal installed or dispose of the microwave at this time, ensuring that no harmful radiation is leaking outside of the device.
